of Guangxi National Paiyangshan Forestry Centre

Paiyangshan Forestry Centre situates at Ningming county where is in the southwest of Guangxi and near to the boundaries of China and Vietnam . It is acrossed by Nan-You freeway, Xiang-Gui railroad and the 322th Nan-Ping national highway, and is 180km apart from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, and 38km apart from Pingxiang where is a strategic city of the border. Its transportation is convenient and the environment is superior which is one of the large-scale and mid-scale state-owned forestry centers of Forestry Bureau in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Paiyangshan Forestry Centre was set up in 1955 and combinated by Tuolong, Tuoying, Paiyang and Kouyi by Ningming County in 1962. It has 99,333 ha of total area and once was the biggest forestry centre of Southeast Asia. After several demarcations and adjustments by the district and county, Paiyangshan Forestry Centre has been directly ruling by the area forestry office of Guangxi province since April, 1979.

The forestry centre distributes at the hill of extending range of Shiwan mountains in Guangxi and is situated in the subtropics monsoon climatic region, temperately and rainfall abundant, dry and wet seasons are distinct, annual mean temperature 22.2℃, yearly average frost-free period above 362 days. The yellow laterite and the mountainous region laterite and the red laterite are mainly soil. It belongs protective forest system for Zhujiang River and the forest resources are rich. The primary vegetation are less and most of them are the secondary vegetation, the plants are rich, there are Chinese red pine, Dutch wood, camphor tree for the natural arbor seeds and Chinese red pine, cunninghamia sinensis, variety improved eucalypt for the plantation tree seeds . Where is one of the central areas of high quality production for the scarlet aniseed and source areas for the fine Chinese red pine, and listed as the national characteristic seedling base. Besides python, which is the wild protected animal of national level in the forest region, there are wild protected animals of the second level, such as pangolin, big spirit cat, small spirit cat, giant squirrel, original chicken, monkey hawk, crow cuckoo and so on.

There are 27,600 hm2 of the manage area now and 1,175,000 m3 amount of growing trees stock and 18,793 hm2 of the forest land area and 65% of forest fraction of coverage in the forestry centre. There are approximately more than 80,000 m3 of merchantable log and 10,000 tons of wood chip and more than 5,000 tons of rosin and 750 tons of fresh aniseed, and 25 tons of longan and litchi chinless which are high quality fruits produced yearly.

All staff existing are 1,029, and 812 personnel in active service and 217 retirement personnel and 203 personnel all manners of specialized technology. The HQ of the forestry center is located at county seat Ningming, Guangxi, and governs 8 afforestation sub-fields, and is equipped with 8 control departments of the party and administration office. the production department, supervision department, the local police station and so on and 4 sub-organizations of the synthetic lumber processing factory, the rosin factory, the service company, the staff hospital.
